Faithful engagement with civil power has always held in tension the prophetic and the pastoral, the pragmatic and the pure.
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 is the opening day of the 85th Texas Legislature. Join us Tuesday evening at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church for a replay of Texas Impact’s Interfaith Service of Public Witness, featuring prayers and wisdom from leaders of diverse religious traditions about our shared responsibility to work together for the common good that will occur on the South Steps of the Capitol in Austin earlier in the day at 10:00 am. (Representatives from Emerson UU Church will speak at the Capitol)
Join us to learn what issues the Texas Unitarian Universalist Ministry, Emerson Justice Advocates, and Texas Impact will be working on this session, as well as explore how we can all become advocates and activists for justice in the upcoming legislative session. We will offer prayers for members of the Legislature and for the people of Texas.
