The ISGH shared this super helpful parking image with us and suggested that we park near the high school and walk over. Please DO NOT park in the mosque’s main parking lot as it’s very small and people attending the service should occupy those spaces. Let’s not inconvenience them in any way.

SCENARIO: HOUSTON, TEXAS – UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST VOICE FOR JUSTICE (UUV4J) representing all Unitarian Universalist congregations in the Greater Houston area will join Houstonians who support freedom of religion and the right of Muslim citizens to live in peace in the United States of America. The gathering is organized in coordination with the Islamic Society of Greater Houston.

Unitarian Universalists assert that freedom of religion requires mutual respect so that all people of faith may worship according to their conscience. As Houstonians and citizens of the United States, we have a proud history of receiving families in need of refuge. We are also concerned about the recent increase of violence and hate toward our Muslim friends and families. Violence toward minorities and people of faith is not and should not be an American value.

Because we are free, we can love one another as we are. Because we are free, we can form sincere friendships that bridge hostility and create a peaceful world.” Rev. We will be holding signs with messages like “We are with you!” and “We are ALL American” and greeting practicing Muslims as they enter and exit the mosque for their Friday prayer service, known as Jum’ah. Demonstrators will also have the opportunity to enter the mosque and experience an “Islam 101” workshop in a designated area while the prayer service is being held.
