We are excited to announce the UU Network will be walking in Houston Pride Parade this Saturday, June 28th.

This year’s theme is

CELEBRATION IS  OUR LEGACY

This is a UU Yellow “Love Teeshirt” Event. 

Whether you’re ready to strut your stuff in the parade OR lend a helping hand getting ready for the parade,  we’ve got a spot for you.

PARADE LOGISTICS

The UU Network vehicle location will be on Allen Parkway. Our exact slot location will be TEXT AND/OR emailed to you after 5 PM Saturday. Additionally, it will be posted on UUNETWORK.ORG.

Our UU Network vehicle will be between the start of the parade (Smith and Allen Parkway) and Montrose.

6 P.M. Our UU Network Group Photo

7:15 PM. The parade starts moving.

PARKING: 

In prior years UUs have  parked at the Green Street Parking Garage, 1320 Fannin St.

You can enter on Clay between Main & Fannin.

Advance reservations are recommended as rates may change at the garage. Weekends are $10.advanced.

METRORAIL is also an option.

From the garage, it is approximately a 30 minute walk to our UU parade vehicle. However, it is only a couple of blocks from the end of the parade route near Clay and Milam. Leaving downtown,  this allows a quick jump to the freeways for the trip home. An Uber ride to Taft and Allen Parkway is an option.  It will be near where our UU Vehicle will be parked.

PRIDE FESTIVAL

THE FESTIVAL is Saturday from 12 Noon until 6 PM. It features vendors and food. There is a fee for those 21 to 55.

The Pride Parade is on local television at 7 PM.

PARADE TIPS

Our UU group will toss out WELCOMING CONGREGATION wristbands attached to

Mardi Gras beads. This will allow those catching  them to locate a Houston UU Congregation at UUHOUSTON.ORG

After last year’s parade, we saw a  15%+ increase in website visits.

Wear sunscreen and appropriate clothing for the Houston heat. (It gets better after dark).

Iced bottled water will be provided in our truck cooler.

Iced neck cloths will be available.

There will be food available at the festival until 6 o’clock. Otherwise, you might want to bring a snack.
